Is it surprising that users are more cautious with regard to the information they are willing to share online? After last week’s discussion around facebook and their new privacy settings, it is not surprising for me. A recent UK study by Ofcom shows the almost 80% of UK responding social networking users restricted their pages. Only friends and family can see it now.

Social Media is a game… at least for NBC. The name of the game: Fan it. The idea: incentivizing users for content engagement. The broadcasting company created an interesting loyalty program using social media conversation via Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and MySpace. The program is based on their myNBC community. An interesting approach for companies (especially media companies) that want to increase interaction with their readers.
